    72 Mach 1 Sail Panels

I am finishing up on 3 or 4 year restoration of a 72 Mach 1. I am down to the sail panels and I'll be done. Course, I can't remember how everything goes back in. Does the package tray go underneath the lower sail panels or just butt up against them? It seems either way, I'll need to trim the new package tray. Also, the material on top of the new upper sail panels is lose and not glued like the other three sides of the sail panels. Does this go under the weatherstriping of the back window and do you just turn under the part after it leaves the window and glue it to the back side of the sail panel? Pictures would be appreciated. I also would like a picture of the headliner trim piece on the back window.

These may help. I'll try to find more if you need them. E mail me at c9zx@cox.net if you need more pictures, it is easier for me to email them. Chuck

Thanks for the reply. I'll email you. When I put the package tray under the lower sail panel, it makes the lower sail panel stick up higher than the rear 1/4 panel cover.

There is not much room to get the package tray under the lower sail panel. Also this is the picture of the material I'm talking about on the upper sail panel. Then there is this gap between the rear 1/4 panel cover and where the seat goes where you can see right into the trunk.

Here's another picture of the gap.

Thanks, these are a lot of help and it does look like the package tray goes under the lower sail panel, correct?

RE: 72 Mach 1 Sail Panels

I figured out my package tray was not sitting all the way down because I had not taken out the metal strip behind the back seat. Now it sits like it is suppose to and goes under the lower sail panels correctly. Thanks for all the help and the pictures. I kept looking on you tube and seeing the one on Mach1restoration.com and just knew they were not suppose to be sticking up higher than the rear interior panels like his. Now everything lines up good.
