My understanding is that that what you refer to as a volt meter is actually an alt meter from the factory…most of those were unreliable and died many years ago. There is a lot of threads on the site, where guys have replaced all 3 with aftermarket gauges. I liked the look of the factory gauges...

If I remember it correctly, for my car (non air), I had to detach the connections behind what you refer to as the control box. It just means going under the dash to disconnect…and it connections were quite easy to remove. Hope that helps

I ended up really lucky … The dealership that originally sold my car is still in business… and about 150 miles away. The body shop broke one the pins when removing the original. I called up the dealership who searched and found me a replacement they had stuffed away somewhere in the back Picture...

As an option, you can send your broken stock tach to rocket man classic cougar, (site supporter) to have the guts replaced with modern technology. ( I believe he is still in Texas) If the stock look is appealing to you…

My 72 came with white floor mats ( I replaced mine with blue repops a couple years ago). I agree with others that the white ones really “pop” I haven't seen them in a few years, but I have them stored somewhere in the garage. Back in the day, used a bleach/ water mix on them to whiten them...

I didn’t realize these pieces are removable from the greater clock consul i believe at least one complete clock consul in the garage…. i will do digging later today. And send you some pictures

I had my dash pad already removed when I pulled my instrument cluster. I think you might have to loosen the dash pad and lift it up a bit to get clearance to remove the cluster (upper left and right corners of cluster were buried behind the dash pad, on my car...as the steering column creates...

If you are taking your Speedometer bezel out, you might want to consider installing LED bulbs (brightens your dash at night) or whatever the new technology is. I swapped out to led and my old eyes can now see and read the guages at night search the forum, as there is lots of info here that...
