I just add “but I don’t know” at the end off all my tips just for insurance. Being 20, most people here have more years of experience than I’ve been alive.

Cleaning up parts - recommended method and products?

Cleaned my super t-10 with super clean and a pressure washer. Did a good job, the gallon jug goes a long way with your own spray bottle. I have yet to try evaporust. I used white vinegar to clean my quadrajet and it did good besides having chemical warfare in my bathroom (it was -20 outside)

Sounds like a really cool setup. Already purchased the Holley system when it was on sale, wanted to try something new. I have a quadrajet on my 77 trans am that I had to fully rebuild and tune and it is quite a hassle with late 70s emissions and vacuum lines. Since it will be my mom’s car (for...

By any slim chance does anyone here know some good Cleveland machinists in the Minnesota area. I have yet to call around to all the shops and check, the only shop near me that I know about does big block chevys. I thought I’d check just in case. Prefer someone that knows a bit since I am...

Hello, I'm new to this forum and fixing mustangs.

Nice looking engine, any rust can be fixed with time. I came here with the same intentions as you and have learned a lot in the past few months. Good luck. Edit: Almost forgot, time AND money.

Vehicle tag not sure for what

From research it seems to just be an engine tag that is fastened somewhere on the engine 73-79, by oil filter or intake manifold maybe? source

Thanks this is a big help. I was concerned about first startup with the sniper system, good to know it should all play nice. Unrelated but I am interested in that fuel tank, might send you a PM to learn a bit more, mine is pretty shot.

After a long email chain with Brent at lykins I will most likely be going with 3v 208s assembled for a hydraulic roller. Also might just get my whole 408 rotating assembly from him for consistency sake. Was originally gonna go with tmeyer but since I’m getting heads and a custom cam from brent...

    New Toys Bought

I am a big fan of factory look but like a good digital set, never liked what Dokota puts out. These look pretty good though, may consider them in the future. In dash pics soon?

Thanks, looking into trick flow currently. Seems the 195s 62cc ported heads are the only ones offered that are assembled for a hyd roller, the bares are out of stock till mid August. Seems like a good deal, and I can run Edelbrock air gap + my current headers, for almost half the final price of...

Seems like I can get them from lykins and he can assemble them as well. Pretty tempting, but I am going to look around for a bit still. Which intake do you run with them and how is the hood clearance, thanks.

Where did you source your AFDs from? I heard they run good, someone else on this forum said they like them a lot but bought them from someone that he wouldn't recommend. Thanks.

Talked to Brent at lykins and he suggested CHI heads by a long shot. If I am going with CHI I might as well go for the 3vs. The bare 3v 208 60cc heads, and their dual plane intake is gonna run about 4k before taxes and all of that. Are they really that much better than a trick flow or another...

Seems like my mom is ok with opening the wallet for her build. If I really wanna push my luck what aluminum heads are the best bang for the buck? I know people love CHI but man are they pricey, I also heard AFD is great and they seem to be cheaper. My 2v heads need ALL of the work so I will be...

Thanks for all the info, most likely will keep the 2v heads unless I can talk my mom into upping the budget a bit more lol. Seems AFD heads are more affordable compared to CHI if we go that route. Currently making a list of all the parts and what not that’ll go into it just so I have an idea...

I am sure the 3v heads are great, although pushing $4000 for a pair of bare heads at my door seems a little excessive. I am not trying to get max output or even high rpm performance, just a street car that'll hit WOT for smiles every once in a while. 4x4 has a similar build to what I am looking...

Haven’t even delved into mounts or anything of the like yet, any reason for suggesting the propane ones? Also any clue on header clearance? Thanks, I just haven’t done much looking into accessories yet so I’m sort of in the dark.

Thanks, I will definitely use some of this info for my own build, my block is significantly better looking than what you started out with so I’m even more confident now lol. The work you mentioned is on the stock 2v heads right, just wanna make sure? Thanks for the write up and pics, helps a lot.

Yeah, I believe my current 4 speed is a wide. Factory says it has a 3.25 rear with t-lok, but I havent cracked it open yet. As much as I like spinning tires in low gears I like being able to take it on the highway without it screaming, seems like 3.25 is the best for that.
