    Hunting a voltage leak

Closing the loop on this . . . . I also replaced the Voltage Regulator harness as the original wasn't a tight fit (you could slide it off with no friction) with a Dorman 85842. The harness has a few extra wires, but fits good. On to the next job (tune up on my kid's 87 300zx)! :)

71 and 72 fenders are different from the 73 fenders.

Yup. It has to do with the 73 impact bumper shape. They are significantly larger than the previous year bumpers.

    Hunting a voltage leak

Replacing the voltage regulator worked. A little frustrating because the one on there is only a couple of years old. I used a Duralast VR730. Note that there are two duralast voltage regulators specified for this vehicle. You need to check your alternator size to be sure you get the right one...

    Hunting a voltage leak

I just ran out to check the condenser. I unplugged it and the draw was still there. Of curiosity, what does the condenser do?

    Hunting a voltage leak

Ok, So I'm still hunting this down. I bought a new meter, my old meter was not reading DC current correctly. The new meter works well and I can tell that I have a draw of 2.6 amps with everything off. It kills the battery in about a day or less. I've gone through the motions of removing all...

73 mustang 75000 miles needs paint job $9000

Hi Jerry, It would help to provide additional details, like overall condition, options, more pictures, where the car is located etc. Love the wheels, by the way. Good luck with the sale!

Single DIN chassis stereo in a '71-'73 Mustang?

On another car I have, I put a Bluetooth amp under the seat. Ran power and speaker cable to the amp. Sounds great and 100% hidden. The AM Radio is still in the dash and works with the single dash speaker.

    Parts For Sale AM Radio

I have a Ford AM radio I'm listing here before eBay. I think the markings indicate 65 Mustang maybe? Here are the markings: 28-14675-8 5TPZ 19236 I have not connected power so you should assume this needs to be rebuilt. Presets work, knobs turn. Turning knob moves the tuning indicator. $100...

    Hunting a voltage leak

Am I doing this wrong? I have a basic home depot volt, amp, ohm meter. I disconnect the negative cable and put my meter between the battery negative post and the negative (disconnected) cable. I see 1.38 ma. Does that mean I had no draw at that time? Maybe my issue is sporadic?

    Hunting a voltage leak

I'm trying to find a voltage leak that's killing my battery and could use some help. I have a test light that I connected between the battery negative post and the negative battery cable (while disconnected). In this configuration, with the key off, there is 12 volts running across the test...

    Edelbrock 1406 Nightmare

Got it. Try the carb with stock setting and the fattest squirter. Let us know. Don't get into the secondaries when testing. Just see if it runs well enough to drive at normal speeds. Good luck!

    Edelbrock 1406 Nightmare

Agreed. I installed a clamp-on O2 sensor in my exhaust and I can monitor AFR while tuning. When done I simply remove it. It makes tuning much easier. For what it's worth, I had to go up several squirter sizes on my Edelbrock. There was a kit with a couple of different sizes, I would reset the...

    Battery Hold Downs

I'm missing one. . . Anyone have a better source? Shipping costs more than the clamps. https://www.cjponyparts.com/battery-hold-down-j-bolt-pair-1967-1973/p/HW417/

    Dead Battery

I replaced the battery in my 73 with a Duragold 750cca from AutoZone last May. I went out to take a drive yesterday and it was dead (last started maybe 3 weeks ago). And I mean dead: no dim lights, nothing. I put my battery charger on the battery and it would not charge. It just gave me a...
