1973 Mach 1 original Q Code 4 Speed bright red
A continuation of a build my grandpa started shortly after he bought it in 2001(3rd owner), one of his last of many mustangs he bought through the years. It also ended up being his favorite and I can see why! Inherited in 2016 after many years of...
The 1-1/8" is the inner nut, the outer one is the lock nut which they also show having at WCC but they don’t give an outer dimension. Another website called auto krafters shows both together in one kit and lists it at 1" for the locking nut. I’m just wondering if these replacements are the...
The "incorrect hardtop" version was mine. Discovered that problem last fall. What a headache that was. Here is the hack job done to the incorrect mounts that came out of it. Done by the previous owner my grandfather bought it from before me. Yikes.
***EDITED***
Turns out it was just an excess buildup of paint not letting the 1" get on it before. I’d delete the thread if I could figure out how so I guess just disregard the post.
A true head scratcher here.. my 73 Mach 1 is in need of new strut rod bushings. Problem being, the outer nut...
Another thing I’m not 100% sure on, will measure sometime in the next few weeks. I always thought 15x8 front and 15x10 rear but now beginning to wonder. I have yet to find another set of the rears with the same "deep dish" anywhere online.
As if motor mounts were enough fun.. installed 3 point seatbelts today. Much easier than the mounts. Bought these from wesco performance. The 8” drop sash brings them down to just the right spot.
The pillows were for my fiancé, he’s had a few surgeries that make laying on hard ground a pain (literally). They do tend to get in the way a bit but helpful in the right spots lol
Dealt with the aftermath from the motor mount ordeal. Went and bought longer mount to bracket bolts due to the prothane bolts being a little thicker than factory. Touched up paint chips on the water pump. Installed the missing alternator bracket and got a new alternator belt. Productive weekend...
I want to thoroughly thank the members of this forum who helped me out with this. If not for you guys I’d still be sitting here stumped as to why things didn’t fit. Hope you guys aren’t sick to death of all my questions by now! Lol
Decided on the Prothane mounts, the cheap oreillys mounts were...
To reiterate a little bit, the car was previously my grandpa’s car. In 2016 he was diagnosed with cancer, at the time he was in the process of trying to wire in a back up camera. When he passed, the drivers side rocker panel trim was out, carpet pulled back and wiring all over the place. My dad...
This particular one does for whatever reason, will find out why later when I take apart the interior. I have no plug at all coming down to the shifter area, either under the car or through the interior under the dash. This is the wire going to that plug in the engine bay.
Finally making progress. I saw that plug earlier and thought it was for something else since I never found the other end. Traced it through the firewall and it goes up and over the steering column and down under the carpet by the floor dimmer switch. Will remove kick panel and rocker trim and...
Yet another question.. is there a reason why the bracket to frame bolts are reversed like this? Or is this something that someone did along the line? I would think they should all go the same way?
